Course Description
This week-long, fully hands-on course guides students through all the steps of rehairing bows for violin, viola, cello, and bass. Participants will learn the complete workflow—from safely handling and disassembling a bow to cleaning, lubricating, and polishing all its parts. Each day focuses on a specific stage of the process, ensuring students build practical, repeatable skills.
After the course, students will have a working knowledge of plug cutting, mortise preparation, hair selection, and finishing, along with the confidence to perform a full rehair independently. Tool lists are provided one month prior to class, allowing students to arrive prepared and ready to learn.
This class is ideal for players, teachers, aspiring luthiers, or anyone eager to understand the mechanics and care of string instrument bows on a deeper level.
